In coo peration with the local churches of the city\, the international and inter denominational Taizé Community will be leading a young ad ult gathering in Birmingham over the Early May Bank Holid ay weekend\, 28 April - 1 May\, 2017.
\nA regular common prayer for all
participants will be at the heart of the weekend. Brother Alois

In the wake of a number of international events which have underlined divisions in our societies\, we wish to celebrate the beauty of the commi tment lived out by many Christians and others of goodwill. With very humbl e means they contribute to the building up of trust and community\, and po int to another future. We also want the meeting to give confirmation to th ose whose commitments are discreet or hidden\, encouraging them and renewi ng their joy. Birmingham is a particularly young and ethnically diverse ci ty: a good place to undertake this.
\nTherefor e there is an “appeal” attached to the invitation to participate:

In our world of deep
divisions\, we ask the participants in Hidden Treasure to put into practi
ce some new action of friendship or solidarity\, and to bring this experie
nce with you to the meeting.
... “br ing it with you”: possibly in order to share it with others during the dis cussions\, but possibly primarily to confide it in prayer when we gather i n the churches over the weekend.
\nThe meeting is being held with the encouragement of the presidents of Birming ham Churches Together\, Archbishop Bernard Longley\, Bishop David Urquhart and Reverend Ian Howarth. Support has also been expressed by other Chu rch leaders.
